Workshops

Arts Horizons arts education workshops strive to build creative and engaged citizens of all ages and backgrounds by nurturing artistic, academic, and social-emotional skills through hands-on, interactive arts experiences. Our workshops are aligned with New Jersey and New York State Learning Standards, National Core Arts Standards, and the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts while adhering to principles of differentiated instruction, learning through multiple modalities, and Universal Design for Learning. Arts Horizons is also firmly committed to providing arts education workshops that center neurodiversity and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Workshops are available as in-person, virtual, and hybrid sessions, and they can be customized to suit your program budget, needs, and structures. Workshops may be offered as a single session or as an Artist-in-Residence program lasting several weeks to a full school year. Our professional teaching artists and dedicated staff will work closely with your educators and administrators to develop a program that is right for you and your participants!

Karla Moore
“What I really love about teaching West African and African diasporic dance is that it connects children – especially children of African descent – to their roots through dance, drumming, and singing. It also helps all students become more confident in themselves and to learn more about other cultures.”
Karla Moore - AH Teaching Artist
Jahlil Shabazz
“If the past years have shown us anything, it has shown us how much we enjoy the arts on a day-to-day basis. Whether it is listening to music or watching our favorite movies and television shows, all of these things come from artists. The more that we can support the arts, the more we can give our youth the opportunity to get a jumpstart on their future.”
Jahlil Shabazz - AH Teaching Artist
Tosha-Lyn Francis
“We are proud partners of Arts Horizons in our first year. We love that as a small school, Arts Horizons is able to grow with us and provide the level of flexibility we need. If we need theater, they’ve got it! If we need visual arts or digital arts or dance or music, they’re able to fulfill our needs.” –
Tosha-Lyn Francis - Principal 289Q: Queens United Middle School
Mary Maher

“We need to pour love on our kids and the AH artists have done this. Our staff, kids and parents need the release of art.”

Mary Maher - Principal, Hospital Schools NYC
Nina Crupiti-Kanjo

“Working with AH has been life-changing for our students.”

Nina Crupiti-Kanjo - Childhood and Special Education Arts Teacher at P.S. 138M @ P.S. 30
Jawnanthony Bramble

“Since art programs are nearly nonexistent in this community, we wanted to bring them so that kids can see and be exposed to the arts and to know that they can do anything that they want to do!”

Jawnanthony Bramble - OST Program Director, YWCA
