The Arts Education Dedication Award

  • May 8, 2024

During Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate our remarkable educators, teaching artists and partners in the arts! Arts Horizons staff interact with incredible educators who are passionate about bringing the arts to their students. One such outstanding educator that we have had the privilege of working with for over two decades is Dr. Jennifer Alexander-Ade, the Principal of P.S 46X: The Edgar Allen Poe school located in the Bronx, New York.

Arts Horizons presented Principal Ade “The Arts Education Dedication Award” after an incredible performance by theater company WinceyCo. Following the end of the performance, Wincey Terry-Bryant, the founder of WinceyCo, gave a heartfelt speech about Principal Ade and presented her with the award and a bouquet of flowers alongside Gloria Page, the Manager of Performances at Arts Horizons.

Arts Horizons awards educators who have shown their continued commitment to arts education through partnerships with arts organizations like Arts Horizons to bring in assemblies and arts residencies to their students. These educators have gone beyond providing daily arts education and bring in extracurricular arts activities that provide additional time for creativity and learning.

Principal Ade has been an avid supporter of arts education, bringing so many different performances and art residencies to her students at P.S 46X. Even during a school year filled with budget cuts and educational uncertainty, Principal Ade has continued to recognize the arts as a vital part of student education and growth. We are pleased to be able to work with such a great educator and look forward to providing the school with assemblies and workshops for the rest of the school year. Arts Horizons looks forward to recognizing the efforts of the educators we work with for years to come.
