Federal Funding's Cut, The Need Isn't
- Dec 1, 2025
This #GivingTuesday, you can help 35,000 people experience performing and visual arts in all five NYC boroughs and six NJ counties. Federal funds have been cut, and budgets slashed by the US Department of Education, so our programs and your support will help expand access to the arts for people of all ages and abilities. Our programs nurture curiosity, boost well-being, and strengthen communities.
Give today—create possibility tomorrow!
Arts Horizons is committed to addressing barriers that stand in the way of arts engagement, such as systemic poverty and racial inequities. We do not have our own facility—intentionally—and deliver our programs directly in the communities we serve: schools, community centers, libraries, and assisted living facilities. Our music, visual arts, dance, theatre, and media initiatives are reflective of the cultures we serve and led by Professional Teaching Artists.
With your help, our Teaching Artists can go into schools and bridge the gap to provide our key programs:
- Teaching Residencies: Hands-on workshops led by professional artists provide innovative, culturally diverse arts engagement for children and teachers, aligned with National Core Arts Standards.
- Live Performance Assemblies: World-renowned artists engage audiences in live, interactive performances that entertain and educate through the arts.
- Specialty Programs: Focused on individuals with special needs, early childhood, multilingual students and youth in hospital schools.
- Youth Arts Safe Haven: Afterschool and summer programs help youth address violence, substance abuse, and school dropout through self-expressive art focused on advocacy and social justice.
- Creative Spirits: Teaching Artists facilitate workshops for elderly adults in residential facilities to promote lifelong learning and enhance quality of life.
- Family Programs: Children and loved ones create art projects together, strengthening intergenerational bonds and creating lasting memories.
