Calling Experienced Teaching Artists & Performing Groups

Arts Horizons enhances the lives of people of all ages and abilities by creating equitable opportunities to engage in the arts. Professional teaching artists offer a wide variety of unique, multicultural programs, including custom designed artist‐in‐residence programs, live performances, professional development for teachers, and parent workshops. All programs are designed to reinforce the National Core Arts Standards and NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.

Arts Horizons seeks talented / experienced teaching artists and performing groups to present engaging, educational, interactive and age-appropriate assemblies, workshops and residencies to join our roster.  We welcome artists from a variety of disciplines and cultural traditions to apply including but not limited to: 

Dance 

Asian

Latin Fusion

Hip Hop

South Asian (Bollywood or Bhangra)

Step

Literacy (Storytelling)

Musical Theater

Music of Latin America


Arts Horizons programs take place in schools, community centers, hospitals, and adult program facilities with students of all ages and abilities. Program locations may include:   

  • NYC (All 5 boroughs) 
  • NJ (Northern and Southern) 
  • Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, Putnam NY 

Skills and Experience 

  • Minimum 3 years working in your field 
  • Knowledge of and ability to integrate the National Core Standards and NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts 
  • Provide resource guide and lesson plan that demonstrates proficiency in the discipline with pedagogical tools, techniques and age-appropriate program overview connecting the National Core Arts Standards and NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts
  • Have a broad academic & educational standard and curriculum integration in workshops, performances or culminating events
  • Must be ready to adapt to schedule changes or shifting school priorities with flexibility & clear communication
  • Attend / facilitate planning meetings with educators, staff administrators, and artists to harness expertise, define goals, and program delivery expectations
  • Allow sufficient travel time for setup and preparation at contracted program sites
  • Fingerprinting for NYC and New Jersey will be required
