Arts Horizons is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Challenge America grant of $10,000. This grant will support Arts Horizons’ Creative Spirits program for seniors at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ.

“The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to Arts Horizons, which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “We are pleased to be able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.”

Arts Horizons, a nonprofit performing and visual arts organization, serves over 2,000 people in NJ through in-school and after-school initiatives, family workshops, and senior programs. “Arts Horizons is committed to artistic excellence. We are thrilled with the opportunity for our professional teaching artists to collaborate with the legendary senior artists at the Actors Fund Home,” says Dena Isles, Executive Director of Arts Horizons. “The Creative Spirits program will combat social isolation and promote well-being for the aging population in Englewood, NJ.”

The Creative Spirits program will provide 36 theater/creative writing and visual arts workshops for small groups of seniors and a culminating Community Arts Celebration. Family and friends attend the celebration and seniors display their artwork, perform acting pieces, and play music. For more information, contact Stephanie E. Bostic at (201) 567-1766.

Located on six beautiful acres in Englewood, NJ, and only seven miles from NYC, the Actors Fund Home offers health care and supportive services for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term residence.

“The Actors Fund Home is honored to collaborate with Arts Horizons on their Creative Spirits program for seniors. Our Home residents have spent their lives immersed in the arts, and we’re thrilled that thanks to Arts Horizons and the NEA, they’ll continue to have the opportunity to do what they love,” said Actors Fund Home’s Executive Director Jordan Strohl.

The NEA Challenge America award is a matching grant, and Arts Horizons is working with the organization’s foundation partners, as well as launching a social media fundraising campaign, to meet the match. Visit www.artshorizons.org learn more.
