Imani Ackerman is a former Arts Horizons high school intern who has returned over a decade later to support their mission as a Grant Writing Consultant. She has a background in youth ministry program management, including teaching teenagers spoken word poetry, and hip-hop and lyrical dance. Imani received a full-ride scholarship to complete her Bachelor of Arts in English, leveraging her creative writing expertise and financial aid experience to pivot into nonprofit development. Imani’s efforts in conveying powerful stories and connecting with funders have won over $10 million in grants for worthy causes such as caregiving policy and advocacy, school nutrition programs, and youth-led media for social justice. She is thrilled for the full-circle opportunity to combine her skills with her heart for the arts, students, and education equity to find and win grants for Arts Horizons.
